I personally would rather a macbook pro. I own an ipod touch and it pretty much does exactly the same. I think this is good for the elderly and the disabled because of its size and simplicity, but other than that this thing is no good.
@kazper333 you go to almost any ipad review and they make comparisons to laptops and netbooks. i already have an itouch so if i wanted to read books, browse the net, watch movies, listen to music which they are heavily pushing i would just buy a laptop.
@kazper333 What is the iPad’s main selling points? watching movies, using the internet, and reading books right? well these are all the things you can do on a laptop with spending the same amount of money yet having a better experience. this is nothing but a glorified itouch. As you stated the ipad is a cross between an ipod touch and a netbook so naturally your going to compare the differences of a netbook and itouch especially since there aren’t but a few tablets out right now.

@GamingUnited503 the ability to read books and watch movies on a huge touchscreen is awesome but i agree with you its not as special as people are trying to make it out to be at least not for the price. $400 should be the max price on one of these ranging down to $200 for the lower end models. If i spend more than $400 i would rather buy a freaking laptop with sprint’s 4G super fast mobile hotspot because then I’ll get way way more bank for my buck.

@username2153 It’s more about not letting a 3rd party proprietary sw dictate the direction of a key feature in their platform – especially when Adobe had allowed Flash to lag behind on the Mac vs Flash on Windows for years. It’s still slow and crashes frequently.
When a proprietary standard is unkind to your platform, you change to an open standard when you can – like HTML5. Even youtube has a beta HTML5 version.

a tampon has more features than the ipad and at least a tampon can multitask.
